What are the safety precautions for operating the infrared dryer?
Safety Precautions for Operating the Infrared Dryer
In industrial drying operations, the infrared dryer must be operated in strict compliance with safety regulations to prevent accidents caused by high temperatures, infrared radiation, or improper operation. The key safety precautions are as follows:
### I. Equipment Installation and Environmental Safety
1. Installation Requirements:
The dryer must be fixed on a flat, load-bearing floor, away from flammable or explosive materials (such as alcohol, paint, cartons, etc.). Keep at least 1 meter of safety clearance around the equipment to ensure proper ventilation.
Electrical wiring must be carried out by a qualified electrician. Use leakage protectors and grounding devices that match the equipment’s power. Prevent wire aging, overloading, or short circuits.
2. Environmental Requirements:
Do not pile clutter, especially flammable materials, in the working area to avoid fire caused by high-temperature heating.
Keep the environment dry. Prevent water or liquid from seeping into the equipment, which may cause electrical faults or electric shock risks.
### II. Safety Precautions During Operation
1. Personnel Protection:
Operators must wear heat-resistant gloves and protective glasses. Avoid direct contact with high-temperature parts (such as heating tubes and conveyor belts) to prevent burns.
Infrared radiation may cause long-term damage to skin and eyes. Avoid staring directly at the heating area. Use anti-infrared safety goggles when necessary.
2. Material Safety:
Confirm that the material is suitable for infrared heating before drying. Some chemicals and flammable/explosive materials must be tested in advance. Do not dry highly volatile substances.
Place materials evenly to prevent blocking the infrared lamps, local overheating, or conveyor blockage.
### III. Equipment Operation and Maintenance
1. Operation Monitoring:
Before starting, check the heating tubes, conveyor belt, and temperature control system. Set appropriate temperature and drying time. Avoid over-temperature operation.
Do not open the dryer cover while it is running. Use the observation window for monitoring to prevent infrared leakage or burns.
2. Regular Maintenance:
After shutdown, clean the inside of the dryer to remove residue and dust. Prevent buildup that may reduce heating efficiency or cause fire.
Regularly check the infrared lamps, wiring connections, and temperature sensors. Replace any damaged or aging parts immediately to prevent malfunction.
### IV. Emergency Handling
If overheating, unusual smell, or abnormal noise occurs, immediately shut down and disconnect the power. Troubleshoot before restarting. Do not operate with existing faults.
Keep fire extinguishers and fire blankets nearby. Operators must be familiar with emergency fire procedures. In case of fire, cut off power before extinguishing.
By strictly following the above precautions, the safety risks of infrared dryers can be effectively reduced, ensuring both operator safety and stable equipment operation.
